Our group is broadly interested in various aspects of organic chemistry.  We are particularly excited about exploring new concepts for asymmetric catalysis, using organocatalysts, transition metals and multi-component systems.  In this context, we seek inspiration from supramolecular chemistry, such as anion receptor chemistry, to find new solutions to currently challenging enantioselective transformations.
Our second major area of interest is the development of redox neutral reaction cascades for the mild functionalization of relatively unreactive C–H bonds, such as C–H bonds alpha to heteroatoms.  A major criterion for selecting reactions for development is their potential usefulness in providing valuable intermediates for the synthesis of biologically active compounds.
